PRACTICAL GEO AND SEO GUIDANCE

How to read a GEO score without confusing it with rankings

Read scores, coverage, provisional results and unknown checks together, using the evidence in your Geosento report.

What the 0–100 scale describes

Geosento’s technical score summarises applicable scored checks in a collected sample. It is not a percentage chance of being cited, an official Google metric or a verdict on every page of a website.

A category score divides the weight of confirmed passed checks by the weight of confirmed passed and issue checks. Available category scores are then combined with the published category weights. Categories with no scored evidence are excluded from that combination. Read the exact rules in the methodology.

Four check outcomes need different interpretations

How to interpret check outcomes
OutcomeInterpretationScoring treatment
PassThe applicable condition was verified.Counts as passed when the rule is scored.
IssueThe check found a condition requiring review.Counts in the scored denominator when applicable.
UnknownThe check could not establish the condition.Does not count as passed; unresolved scored evidence limits finality.
Not applicableThe rule does not apply in the observed context.Excluded from scoring.

Read the evidence and coverage beside the number

A report may cover a page limit rather than every discovered URL. Some pages may be blocked, fail to load or require more complete rendering. A provisional score describes completed checks while those limitations remain; it should not be presented as a complete website score.

The report’s tables and charts use the current scan’s findings and page counts. A chart of outcomes is a count of observations, not a probability of search visibility. If no scored pages were evaluated, an invented zero would be misleading.

Use a rescan to verify a change

Change a specific condition, then rescan under comparable settings. Compare shared pages and the same rule. A page that disappears from a later sample does not prove that its earlier problem was fixed.

AI editorial suggestions remain separate from the technical score and should be reviewed against the source text. Actual indexing or AI citations require evidence from the relevant platform, beyond this audit.
